Responding to a rumor that the role of Clark Kent is close to being cast, Gunn once gain stated that DC Studios has not spoken with any actors about the role and that he’s only made “private lists” and is prepping material for auditions. This lines up with

about how far along casting for the movie is.

The person who initially reported the rumor, Grace Randolph, followed up by saying that since Gunn debunked the rumor, she could reveal that the top choice for the role she had heard about was

Gunn then said that now that he’s been told who Lerman is, he does recognize the actor and thinks he is talented, but reiterates that Lerman has never been involved in the casting of Superman in
